Moving in Nijmegen, the city on the ridge
Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands, and you can feel it everywhere. The city sits on a glacial ridge on the south bank of the Waal, which makes Nijmegen one of the few genuinely hilly cities in the country. From the Waalkade and the Valkhof, with its Roman and medieval remains, the streets climb sharply towards the Hunnerberg and the Kwakkenberg.
